We had houseguests all last week, and at first I was all, “Oh, they’ll want to sleep in. I’ll get up early and keep to my work schedule including blogging time” but our guests wanted to see the malls, and the historic section of Dubai, and the Creek, then we decided to go off on a road trip to Ras Al Khaimah, and the babies got off-schedule and began skipping naps and soon I was the person falling asleep in my soup. So: places were visited, snapshots were taken, conversations were had, souvenirs were haggled for, swimsuits were worn, a whole lot of good food was consumed, and no work got done. Which I guess is the whole point of vacationing, or having houseguests.

Next week, though, we will be back to our schedule, complete with enforced naptimes, and I will have the usual amount of fascinating blog posts for you. There is one about the various mocktails available in Sharjah these days, and another about my TBR pile, and a review of Augusten Burroughs’ Running With Scissors.

(Also, I feel I should add that our houseguests didn’t arrive with giant plaid suitcases. They are really very tastefully luggaged people. That’s just the kind of suitcase I like to draw.)
